The refurbishment of Silver Birch Bar in Chiswick, undertaken by RIB Contracts in 2020, stands as a remarkable transformation. This project saw the space rejuvenated with high-quality craftsmanship and bespoke features, such as custom joinery and luxurious bench seating that enhance both functionality and aesthetics.
The centrepiece is a newly constructed solid oak and customised polished concrete bar that harmonizes with the establishment’s chic ambiance. Complementing the stylish interiors are acoustic ceilings that optimise sound quality, creating a pleasant environment for patrons. These thoughtful updates reflect the meticulous attention to detail that defined the refurbishment.
Our Role
The refurbishment also included the installation of a comprehensive new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scheme, ensuring modern efficiency throughout the space. Intelligent lighting and sound systems were seamlessly integrated, adding a layer of sophistication and enhancing the guest experience.
Another standout feature was the high-end kitchen, placed behind fire-rated glass. This design choice not only met safety regulations but also provided restaurant guests with a visual connection to the culinary artistry taking place, elevating the dining experience.
Problem Solving
This project presented unique challenges due to the complexities of working within an occupied building. One significant hurdle was the extensive structural alterations required at the rear of the property. The complete removal of the flat roof uncovered serious structural deficiencies, necessitating careful reinforcement to ensure the integrity of the building.
All this was achieved while maintaining fire escape access for tenants residing above, a critical requirement that demanded careful planning and coordination to uphold safety standards throughout construction.
